BKM 265 Barbarossa Battle Pack

On June 22, 1941, Adolph Hitler’s top secret invasion of the Soviet Union was launched. The invasion, codenamed Operation Barbarossa, was the largest military operation ever attempted. A combined force of over 3.9 million men from Germany and other Axis countries achieved total surprise and quickly overwhelmed the frontier defenses of the Soviet Union. Spearheaded by lightining fast advances of the elite Panzer forces, the invaders conquored Soviet territory at an astonishing rate, and would find themselves at the very gates of Leningrad and Moscow by early December. The onset of the harsh Russian winter and Soviet reinforcements from the east combined to halt operation Barbarossa in its tracks and eventually result in the total defeat of the Axis nations over the next four long and bloody years.

Brickmania has adopted the name “Barbarossa 41″ to identify a who new series World War II themed kits based on the early years of World War II in Europe, particularly on the Eastern Front. To launch the series we are combining the first two tank kits into a special Battle Pack. The kits are the German Panzer II and the Soviet T-26, both prominently participating in the opening months of the conflict. BKM 266 Panzer38(t)

The Czech-built LT v 38 was pressed into service by the Wehrmacht after the Czechoslovakia was annexed by Germany. After being reclassified as the Panzer 38(t) (The “t” stands for “Tschechisch” meaning Czech in German) they were used extensively by the German armored forces during the invasions of Poland, France and the Soviet Union. While they proved reliable vehicles, their light armor and 37mm main gun would prove them quickly outclassed by more power Soviet tanks. While the Panzer 38(t) was withdrawn from combat by 1942, the tanks’s chassis would continue to be produced as the basis for the Marder III and Hetzer tank destroyers.

Additional information about this Brickmania custom Lego® kit:

The model includes fully articulated tank tracks, has a fully rotating turret with and opening commander’s hatch (minifig is NOT included), and a poseable main gun.

This Brickmania model kit is made from genuine unused LEGO bricks and is shipped disassembled. It also comes with full-color printed building instructions, a signed certificate of authenticity, and is packaged in a sealed box.

BKM254 StuG III AusfG Cover

The Sturmgeschütz (StuG) III was one of the most versatile and widely used armored vehicles used by Germany in World War II. We released a premium kit depicting the late model Ausf G version in 2011 and the first batch of 50 sold out in just a couple of months. After making some minor changes due to limited parts availability, we’re pleased to announce that this kit is now fully back in production and available again.

The kit does not include minifigs, but since the StuG was part of the Wehrmacht’s Sturmartillerie units, they could easily be be crewed by one of our Wehrmacht minifig troop packs as shown above.

Panzer II

Brickmania is pleased to announce a new kit containing the Panzer II kit, previously only available with the Barbarossa 41 Battle Pack (and sold out since December).

The Panzer II was a stop-gap tank design, rushed into production while the more advanced Panzer III and Panzer IVs were still under development. Armed with a 20mm cannon and MG34 machine gun, the Panzer proved to be a competant design and played a significant role in German campaigns early in the war, such as the invasions of Poland, France, and Soviet Union, as well as North Africa campaigns. It’s light armor and weapons would be no match for heavier Allied equipment introduced later in the war. The Panzer II chassis was also used for several self-proprelled guns, including the effective Mardar II tank destroyer.

KickstarterFigs

Six of the exclusive kits available through the Brickmania Track Links™ Kickstarter project will include custom printed minifigures. We have finalized the designs above for the WW2 US Army Tank Crewman (left) and WW2 German Army Soldier (right). The figures in the picture are mock-ups made using waterslide decal film run through our laser printer. The actual figures will have silver ink on the buckles, zipper, buttons and insignia. The figures will be included in the kits as follows:

  • Kettenrad = 1 x ww2 Germany Army Soldier
  • M4A1 Sherman = 1 x ww2 US Army Tanker Crewman
  • M3 Lee Medium Tank = 2 x ww2 US Army Tanker Crewman
  • M31 ARV= 2 x ww2 US Army Tanker Crewman
  • M7 Priest = 5 x ww2 US Army Tanker Crewman (with BrickArms M1 Steel Pot Helmet)

We are fortunate to be working with a local company that has extensive experienced with pad-printing using FDA compliant medically safe inks and techniques. Pad printing is the same technique used by LEGO for their parts and figures and we will be able to achieve a print resolution four times greater than the laser printer we use to make our decals. We are considering making up extra figures to be available as an optional add-on pledge.

RESTOCK: Brickmania’s Panzer II is Full of Details

Panzer II
The Panzer II was the first true gun tank fielded by the Germany in World War II. Developed in secret between the wars, the Panzer II’s turret was armed with both a machine gun for anti-personnel fire, plus a 37mm cannon for use against other armored vehicles. Although the Panzer II was soon found woefully inadequate against next generation Allied tank designs, the Panzer II played a key role in the campaigns in Poland, France, North Africa and the Barbarossa campaign in Russia. Even though it was largely withdrawn from front line duty by 1942, the Panzer II continued to soldier on in reconnaissance and convoy escort duty throughout the war. The hull of the Panzer II was also the basis of the highly successful Wespe self-propelled 10.5cm gun. While this is a relatively small model, the high level of detail and SNOT (Studs Not On Top) building techniques earn this kit an Intermediate skill level rating. To celebrate the release of our latest batch of Panzer II kits, we are taking $10 of the price for a limited time. Order yours HERE.
